The Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has called on the people of Mankessim to vote out the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, sending a strong message that the electorate will not be taken for granted.
Addressing a forum of teachers, traders, artisans, and religious leaders in Mankessim as part of his campaign tour in the Central Region, Dr. Forson stressed that the 2024 election is critical to the future of the country, which he argued is currently on a downward trajectory under the NPP.
Blaming the ruling NPP for mismanaging the economy and plunging Ghana into severe hardship, Dr. Forson criticized the government’s reckless borrowing.
He highlighted the staggering increase in the national debt from GHS120 billion in 2016 to GHS761 billion, with little to show in terms of development. He further condemned the government’s debt exchange program, calling it a “wicked” act that has robbed citizens of their hard-earned investments.
Dr. Forson urged the people to rally behind John Mahama’s vision, promising that the NDC will implement transformational policies to support small businesses and artisans. He also reaffirmed Mahama’s commitment to building a modern market in Mankessim, akin to the Kotokuraba market constructed by the NDC in Cape Coast.
