Vice President to Represent President Mahama at 7th AU–EU Summit in Angola

Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, will represent President John Dramani Mahama at the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit scheduled for 24–25 November 2025 in Luanda, Angola.

At the high-level gathering, the Vice President will deliver Ghana’s national statement on behalf of the President, reaffirming the country’s commitment to building equitable and mutually beneficial partnerships between Africa and Europe anchored on respect, shared prosperity and strategic cooperation. She will also advocate for a more inclusive and balanced global governance system that gives greater voice to developing nations.

Addressing an audience of African Heads of State, European Union leaders and key global stakeholders, Professor Opoku-Agyemang will outline Ghana’s key priorities, including economic stability, job creation, food security, climate action, peace and security, and value-chain transformation, with special focus on agriculture and cocoa processing.

She is expected to highlight Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery efforts and structural reforms, notably the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy policy, expanded infrastructure drive under the Big Push Initiative, increased local value addition in cocoa, strengthened agricultural financing, and the empowerment of women through the upcoming Women’s Development Bank.

Her participation at the summit underscores Ghana’s dedication to constructive international dialogue, strengthened strategic partnerships, and the promotion of a unified African voice in addressing global challenges.
