The creative arts and cultural sector in Ghana is set for a major boost as Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang prepares to officially launch the Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The event, which will take place at the National Theatre in Accra at 10:00 a.m., is being organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s cultural development agenda.
According to the ministry, the revised policy provides a renewed strategic framework aimed at preserving, promoting and harnessing Ghana’s rich cultural heritage to drive national development, social cohesion, economic growth and creative innovation.
The policy has been updated to reflect current national and global trends, including the rapid growth of the creative economy, technological advancement, cultural tourism, youth empowerment, cultural education and the protection of Ghana’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Officials say the revised policy seeks to position culture as a key pillar of nation-building and sustainable development while creating opportunities for artists, creatives, cultural practitioners and entrepreneurs within the sector.
The launch is expected to attract high-profile guests, including government officials, traditional leaders, development partners, representatives from the creative and cultural industries, academics, civil society organisations, and members of the diplomatic community.
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts believes the successful implementation of the policy will strengthen cultural institutions, promote cultural diversity, enhance Ghana’s national identity and create more opportunities for creative entrepreneurs across the country.
Members of the public and the media have been invited to attend the historic event, which is expected to shape the future direction of Ghana’s cultural and creative industries.
