Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Pushes for Innovation and Partnerships in Ghana’s Energy Technology Drive.

Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has held a high-level strategy meeting with the Africa Energy Technology Center aimed at accelerating innovation and expanding opportunities within Ghana’s energy sector.
The meeting focused on practical steps to harness emerging technologies, strengthen research collaboration and create sustainable pathways for job creation and industrial growth within the energy value chain.

The Vice President noted that Ghana must deliberately invest in modern energy technologies and build the skills of its workforce if the country is to remain competitive and become a continental leader in energy innovation.


She stressed the importance of building strong local capacity through training, research support and technology transfer. According to her, empowering Ghanaian engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs will ensure that the country not only adopts new energy solutions but also develops home-grown technologies that can be exported across Africa.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the need for deeper partnerships between government, academia, industry and international stakeholders.
She said collaborative efforts will help mobilize funding, promote clean and renewable energy solutions and drive the development of resilient infrastructure that supports economic growth and environmental sustainability.
The Vice President reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding access to reliable and affordable energy while positioning Ghana as a hub for innovation in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and smart grid systems.
She added that advancing energy technology is critical to industrialization, job creation and Ghana’s broader development agenda.
Officials from the Africa Energy Technology Center welcomed the engagement and pledged continued collaboration with government institutions to support research, innovation and capacity-building initiatives.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to align policy direction with technological advancement and investment opportunities within Ghana’s evolving energy landscape.
