Government Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has moved to allay public concerns regarding the health and whereabouts of Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Ofosu confirmed that the Vice President is in good health and is currently recuperating following a brief period of ill health.
His comments come amid growing public speculation and concern after the Vice President missed her expected return date by over three weeks.
While President John Mahama had previously stated that Professor Opoku-Agyemang was recovering and in stable condition, the prolonged absence from public duties had fueled uncertainty and prompted calls for clarity from the government.
“The Vice President is doing well and in good spirits,” said Mr. Ofosu. “She is taking the necessary time to fully recover and is expected to resume her official responsibilities very soon.”
Officials have not disclosed the nature of her illness, but the assurance from the Communications Minister appears aimed at quelling rumors and restoring confidence in the government’s transparency.
