Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has revealed that she has held discussions with a delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly on strategic plans to advance the development of the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The delegation, led by the Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Arthur, and accompanied by the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and Cape Coast South, paid a New Year courtesy call on the Vice President and conveyed their goodwill.
They expressed optimism and support for the government’s resolve to reset the nation and steer it towards sustainable growth.
In a post on her social media page, Professor Opoku-Agyemang said the delegation presented an eight-year development plan for the metropolis.
The proposed plan highlights key priority projects, including the refurbishment and operationalisation of the late President Evans Atta Mills Library and the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital to improve healthcare delivery.
The Vice President noted that discussions also focused on how government support could be leveraged to make Cape Coast more vibrant, attractive, and economically viable.
She added that the Assembly outlined complementary local fundraising initiatives aimed at mobilising resources to support development projects within the metropolis.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang further indicated that she encouraged the Metropolitan Assembly to actively involve residents of Cape Coast in decision-making processes to foster a sense of ownership and deepen Public commitment to development efforts.
She stressed the importance of aligning metropolitan development plans with the broader national development agenda to ensure coordinated and sustainable progress.
