Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the European Union following high-level talks with H.E. Rune Skinnebach, the EU Ambassador to Ghana, at her office.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral and regional relations at a time of shifting global dynamics. Professor Opoku-Agyemang stressed the importance of building genuine partnerships anchored in mutual respect, equity and shared strategic interests. She called for a comprehensive review of existing agreements to identify gaps and unlock new areas of collaboration that align with Ghana’s development priorities.
Highlighting the critical role of peace in national and regional development, the Vice President underscored the need for proactive security measures. Discussions also centred on emerging economic opportunities across the continent, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Professor Opoku-Agyemang reiterated Ghana’s readiness to fully leverage the AfCFTA to enhance its status as a key regional hub for trade, investment and economic integration.
She expressed appreciation for the European Union’s continued support and described the EU as a valued development partner.
The Vice President reaffirmed stability and shared prosperity.
