Veteran Actor Mawuli Semevo Passes Away Due to Fire Accident Complications

 

Renowned actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away. He succumbed to injuries sustained from a domestic fire accident at his residence at Adenta SSNIT Flats. He was receiving treatment at Ridge Hospital before his passing.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday, February 7, when a fire broke out in his living room while he was asleep in the bedroom. In a desperate attempt to escape, he ran through the flames. Upon reaching safety outside, he collapsed and was rushed to Ridge Hospital by neighbors.

Medical professionals indicated that his survival could only be assessed after 21 days. Unfortunately, he passed away today, just 13 days after the incident.

His death was confirmed by actor and Creative Lead of Image Bureau, George Quaye, who paid tribute to his remarkable talent. In a heartfelt message, he wrote, “In shadows deep, the stage now stands so bare, The laughter fades, replaced by heavy air…” In another post, he added, “A heart that danced through every tale and role, Now rests in peace. In sorrow’s sad grip…”

Mawuli Semevo was widely celebrated for his versatility and exceptional performances in both film and theater. His notable works include Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.

Most recently, he portrayed Baba Fakunle in the adaptation of Ola Rotimi’s The Gods Are Not to Blame, produced by Image Bureau and April Productions at the National Theatre last year.

His legacy as a distinguished actor will forever be remembered.
