Veronica Commey appointed Deputy Director General of NSA
Renowned sports journalist Veronica Commey has been appointed as a Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, during the launch of a sports psychology training program at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
Commey brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having worked as the Chief Sports Journalist at the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and freelancing with international sports organizations.
Her expertise extends beyond journalism, with administrative roles such as Head of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) from 2015 to 2017.
Commey also served as the Media Officer for Team Ghana during the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France.
Commey will serve alongside sports administrator Gideon Hammond as deputies to the NSA’s Acting Director General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.
While the NSA traditionally appoints two Deputy Director Generals – one responsible for administration and the other for technical matters – the specific roles of Commey and Hammond are yet to be clarified.
