Valencia appoint West Brom manager Carlos Corberan as new head coach on Christmas Day

Valencia formally announced their new man in the early hours of Christmas Day after parting ways with club legend Reuben Baraja.

Valencia have announced West Brom boss Carlos Corberan as their new head coach on a deal until June 2027.

He replaces Reuben Baraja after taking only 12 points from their first 17 games leaving the La Liga side in the penultimate position in the relegation zone. He played for the club between 2000 and 2010.

Baraja’s sacked on was confined Monday following a 2-2 draw home game against Deportivo Alaves coming from behind twice in regulation time.

Valencia’s official website read: “Carlos Corberan has been appointed as coach of Valencia CF, signing a contract through to 2027.

“A buy-out option in his contract with West Bromwich Albion was taken up to allow him to leave.”

Corberan joined West Brom in October 2022 and led them to the top 10 finish in the Championship before a play-off semi-final defeat by Southampton last season.

Championship side have confirmed a compensation, reported to be in region of £2.49m, was agreed with Valencia.

Corberan will commence work immediately to turn the fortunes of the club around as his target is to save Los Ches from relegation.
