Urgent Product Recall: Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte Poses Health Risks to Consumers

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued an immediate recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte, specifically the Tetra Pak (250ml) and canned (330ml Pétillante) variants, due to safety and regulatory concerns.

The product, which has been widely advertised on social media and available on the Ghanaian market, poses a significant risk to public health, particularly among children.

Reasons for Recall:

Unregistered Product: The importer of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte has failed to register the product with the FDA, making its sale and distribution illegal.

Deceptive Packaging: The product’s packaging and size are misleading, increasing the likelihood of accidental alcohol ingestion among children, which can have severe health consequences.

Actions to be taken:

Consumer Alert: Consumers are advised to refrain from purchasing or consuming Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte.

Retailer and Wholesaler Obligations: Retailers and wholesalers must immediately cease distribution and sale of the product.

Return of Stocks: All stocks should be returned to the nearest outlets of Cave and Garden Ghana Limited and FDA’s offices nationwide.

Regulatory Measures: The importer has been sanctioned, and regulatory measures are being enforced to ensure compliance with public health regulations.

The FDA remains committed to protecting public health and safety. If you have any information regarding the sale of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte, please report it to the FDA via their official communication channels.
