Urgent disclaimer: Beware of Scammer Calls!

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) sternly warns the public about a fraudulent scheme where individuals impersonate FDA officers, claiming to investigate cases of food poisoning at restaurants, eateries, and other food service establishments.

These criminals use deceitful tactics, including contacting food service operators by phone and demanding access to their WhatsApp accounts.

Their true intent is to unlawfully obtain personal and confidential information, such as client databases, to exploit these businesses by hacking their systems or extorting money.

Let it be unequivocally stated that the FDA treats food poisoning incidents as critical public health issues.

The Authority does not conduct investigations or enforcement activities over the phone.

All such actions are carried out through official, onsite inspections.

Food service operators are strongly advised to be vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious calls or messages to the Police or the FDA at its Head Office or Regional Offices nationwide.

Furthermore, as outlined in the FDA’s code of practice, no field officer is authorized to collect payments or request money from clients under any circumstances.

Stay alert, and do not fall prey to these malicious scammers!
