Upper West Regional Police Command Secures 15-Year Jail Term for Motorbike Robbery Convict

The Upper West Regional Police Command has successfully apprehended and brought to justice a suspect involved in motorbike robbery incidents. Nawaf Abdulai, a 20-year-old, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Wa Circuit Court on April 7, 2025, for robbing victims of their Haojue and Luojia motorbikes.

On March 6, 2025, Abdulai and his accomplice, Awal Abass, who is currently at large, stole two motorbikes with registration numbers M-21-449 UW and M-17-4607 UW. The police responded swiftly, arresting Abdulai at his residence on March 8, 2025.

During the investigation, Abdulai admitted to committing the offense. The case was subsequently tried at the Wa Circuit Court, presided over by His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo. The court’s decision serves as a deterrent to others who may engage in similar activities.

The Upper West Regional Police Command commends its officers and the general public for their diligence and professionalism in handling this matter. The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of communities.

In a similar incident, the Ashanti Regional Police Command recently arrested five-armed robbery suspects who robbed a gold dealer at gunpoint on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The Upper West Regional Police Headquarters is located at Wa, near the Wa Circuit Court, and comprises one police division, nine police districts, and 22 police stations and posts.
