The Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has announced the suspension of its nationwide strike.
A communiqué issued by the university administrators on October 11 indicated that the suspension “is to allow for further engagement with the Government on outstanding conditions of service concerns.”
“All members of the Association are, therefore, to resume work from Monday, October 14, 2024,” the communiqué directed.
GAUA embarked on strike on September 18, 2024, due to the failure of the government to approve payment of some negotiated allowances and to address a number of outstanding conditions of service concerns of its members.
The association said it is hoping that the “government will demonstrate good faith and arrange for deliberations within 3 weeks, over the issues included in the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on October 7, 2024.”
