Unidentified Thieves Raid NCCE Office in Bibiani Municipality

The Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, located in the Western North Region, has been raided by unidentified thieves, leading to the loss of several valuable items.

According to information gathered, the criminals made away with desktop computers and accessories, a public address (PA) system, spare tyres, pull-up banners, and a storage box, among other items.

Confirming the incident, the Municipal Director of the NCCE, Madam Martha Nneka Opara, revealed that the intruders did not limit their attack to the NCCE office alone. They also broke into other government institutions within the same premises including the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Audit Department, and the Electoral Commission’s store where they reportedly stole a main switch, electrical wires, service lines, and air conditioners.

Madam Opara noted that the case has been reported to the police for investigation. She expressed deep concern over what she described as years of neglect by the Municipal Assembly, lamenting that both the NCCE and CHRAJ offices have received little attention in terms of renovation and maintenance.

She further decried the absence of security personnel and labourers at the premises, stressing that the lack of protection leaves government property vulnerable, particularly during the rainy season when structural deterioration worsens.

> “Our biggest challenge has been the lack of security and maintenance support. Without these, our offices remain exposed to theft and damage,” Madam Opara stated.

She added that the NCCE office will formally notify the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to seek urgent intervention aimed at improving security and safeguarding government property within the facility.
