UK-Based Ghanaian Gospel Musician Zibah Calls for Increased Promotion of Gospel Music

UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician Zibah recently spoke passionately about the need for gospel artists to invest more effort into promoting their music.

In a recent interview with Obaapa Janee on Ahotor mmre, Zibah emphasized the importance of promoting gospel music to reach a wider audience. Despite the immense spiritual value of gospel music, the lack of adequate promotion often hinders its full potential in terms of audience impact.

Zibah, the hitmaker of the nominated song “It is Well” at the UK Ghana Music Awards 2024 for the best Ghana-UK gospel song, stressed that gospel musicians, like artists in other genres, need to recognize the significance of marketing and publicity. She firmly stated,

“We have to do a lot more promotions with our music. It’s not just about the ministry; it’s also about ensuring that the message God has given us reaches as many people as possible. That requires effort and resources in the area of promotion.”

Moreover, Zibah explained that in today’s competitive music landscape, relying solely on the spiritual aspect of gospel music without effective promotional strategies would limit its outreach.

She pointed out the importance of meeting the audience where they are, whether through social media, streaming platforms, or traditional media, and making it easy for people to find and engage with gospel music.

Several industry insiders agree that for gospel music to thrive and compete with secular music, artists need to adopt more professional marketing techniques while maintaining the spiritual essence of their craft.

Zibah’s “It is Well” song has been nominated for the Best Gospel Song of the Year at the upcoming UK Ghana Music Awards, which will be held next week in the UK.

As Zibah continues to use her platform to spread the gospel through music, her call for increased promotion serves as a reminder that the gospel music industry, like any other, needs to evolve with the times.

She has songs such as “Se Wati (Hope you’ve heard),” “Lifting,” and “Win (I will win)” available on all digital platforms @Zibah Music.
