Tyson Fury announces retirement from boxing again

Two-time World heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury is hanging up his gloves for the third time.

Fury’s unexpected decision comes just after he lost to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk in their double world heavyweight championship in May and December 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

The two-time World Magazine Fighter of the Year first retired in 2016 after beating Vladimir Klitscho, returned to beat Dillian White in 2022 and retired again.

Fury, 36, announced on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025 that he is once again done with the world of boxing, via a short video on Instagram.

He said:

“Hey everybody, I am going to make it short and sweet. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing.

“It has been a blast and I have loved every single minute of it.

“I’m going to end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask.

“God bless everybody and see you on the other side.”

The Gypsy King’s career ends on 34 wins, one draw and two defeats and he has been a multiple heavyweight champion, having lifted the WBO, WBC, IBF, IBO and The Ring belts.
