The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) will hold an Extraordinary Congress on Monday, October 26, 2026, to consider proposals from the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities Ghana (VCTU-G) aimed at suspending its ongoing industrial action.
The congress follows an engagement between the leadership of the two bodies to resolve the outstanding issues that led to the strike.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 23, TUTAG expressed appreciation to the vice-chancellors for their concern and commitment to finding an amicable resolution to the dispute.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to constructive dialogue and collaboration, emphasising the need for a settlement acceptable to all parties.
Ahead of the congress, TUTAG has urged members of VCTU-G to engage the chairpersons of their respective local chapters and encourage them to support the proposed suspension of the industrial action.
The association said the engagements should take place before the congress to help build consensus and improve the prospects of a favourable outcome.
According to TUTAG, the congress will provide an opportunity for its national executive to present and deliberate on the proposals and position outlined by VCTU-G before members decide on the way forward.
The association reiterated its appreciation for the vice-chancellors’ engagement and expressed optimism that continued collaboration would help resolve the outstanding issues.
The industrial action continues to affect administrative services at public universities as efforts to settle the dispute proceed.
