Tunisian Referee to Officiate Ghana vs South Africa U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Tunisian referee Asma Chouchane has been appointed to officiate the first-leg encounter between Ghana and South Africa in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

 

The match is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 15:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.

 

Ghana aims to capitalize on home advantage, while South Africa looks to secure a positive result ahead of the return fixture. This crucial qualifier is a significant step in their qualification journey for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

 

Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup seven times, with their most recent qualification being in 2024. They have participated in the tournament in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2022, and 2024. Ghana’s best performance in the tournament was reaching the group stage.

 

In the 2024 qualifiers, Ghana thumped Senegal 7-1 on aggregate, securing their spot in the tournament. The team is now chasing a record 8th straight FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification.
