Transport operators in Ghana have called on citizens to ignore recent media reports suggesting an increase in transportation fares, labelling these reports as inaccurate and potentially misleading.
In an official statement, the union representing the operators clarified that the rumours of fare hikes could be part of a deliberate agenda by certain individuals to stir public discontent against the transport sector.
They emphasized that no changes have been made to the current fare structure and that these false claims only serve to create unnecessary panic among commuters.
The transport operators urged the public to trust the officially communicated fare rates and refrain from giving credence to unverified reports.
They also reassured Ghanaians of their dedication to maintaining transparency and stability in fare pricing, stating that any adjustments to fare structures would be communicated clearly and directly to the public.
For now, they assured commuters that there will be no price increases, stressing that they remain committed to ensuring affordability and reliability in public transport.
