In a rather devastating news, Barcelona’s LaLiga match against Osasuna was postponed just 20 minutes before kickoff on Saturday due to the unexpected death of the club’s first-team doctor, Carles Miñarro García.
Miñarro García had been an integral part of the Barcelona family since 2017, working with the first team since last summer.
Reports say Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia spent the whole day with the rest of the Barcelona players since early morning and had lunch with the team. In the afternoon during the nap period, he passed away.

The club released a statement, saying: “The Match between Barcelona and Osasuna has been postponed due to the death of the doctor.
“Barcelona are deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro García this evening. For this reason, the match against Osasuna has been postponed and will be rearranged for a later date. The Barcelona board of directors and all staff extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
The news sent shockwaves through the team, with players learning of Miñarro García’s passing upon arrival at the Olympic Stadium.
The team unanimously agreed to request a postponement of the match, which was subsequently approved by LaLiga.
Tributes poured in from the players, with midfielder Gavi posting on Instagram: “Always in our hearts, Doc. We will miss you a lot.”
Teammate Pedri wrote: “I still can’t believe it. Sending a huge hug to all of Carles’ family and friends.”
Defender Ronald Araújo said on X: “It’s hard to believe. Rest in peace, Doc. Sending strength to Carles’ family and friends. May God strengthen your hearts in this difficult time.”

Eternal rivals Real Madrid asap wrote:
“Real Madrid C.F., its president and its Board of Directors deeply regret the death of F.C. Barcelona’s doctor, Carles Miñarro García. Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and affection to all his family, his teammates, F.C. Barcelona and all his loved ones.”
Tonight’s opponents Osasuna also shared on X: “Club Atlético Osasuna wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia and would like to send a warm hug to all the staff of FC Barcelona, as well as to its fans, at this difficult time. May he rest in peace. Goian bego.”
The match will be rescheduled for a later date, with Barcelona currently leading LaLiga, one point clear of Atlético Madrid and three ahead of Real Madrid.
