“Traders Call for Reintroduction of Road Tolls to Save Their Livelihoods”

Traders who operate around toll booths have expressed their strong support for the reintroduction of road tolls, emphasizing the critical role the toll stations play in sustaining their livelihoods. According to the sellers, their businesses have been on the brink of collapse ever since the previous government decided to close the toll booths.

Many of these traders, who sell food, drinks, and other essentials to commuters and workers at the toll stations, revealed that the closure has drastically reduced foot traffic and sales. “We used to earn enough to support our families, but now our income has dwindled, and life has become very difficult,” one trader lamented.

They are, therefore, appealing to the current government to reinstate the road tolls to help revive their businesses. “Opening the toll booths will not only generate revenue for the government but also provide us with the opportunity to earn a living and take care of our families,” another seller pleaded.

The traders believe that reopening the toll booths would be a win-win solution, as it would benefit both the government and small-scale businesses like theirs, which rely heavily on the daily hustle at these locations.
