TOUGHA Recognizes Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi for Outstanding Contribution to Ghana’s Tourism Industry

The Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA) has honoured Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), for his remarkable impact on Ghana’s tourism sector.

The recognition was presented by Mrs. Alisa Osei-Asamoah, immediate past president of TOUGHA, during a Thanksgiving Dinner she hosted to mark the end of her four-year leadership of the Union. In her remarks, she celebrated Mr. Kusi’s unwavering support and the instrumental role he played in strengthening TOUGHA’s visibility and partnerships throughout her tenure.

A citation presented to Mr. Kusi praised his strategic media engagement and collaboration with industry stakeholders. The citation further commended his professionalism and contributions as a senior official at the Ghana Tourism Authority:

“Beyond media support, your role as Deputy Director for Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority has been crucial in strengthening TOUGHA’s collaboration with key institutions. Your counsel, professionalism, and unwavering commitment have been a pillar not only to me personally but to the entire union.

Mr. Kusi’s career is marked by a solid blend of academic achievement and professional service. An alumnus of Prempeh College, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (now UNIMAC-GIJ), completed in 2020. He earned an MBA in Marketing from the Methodist University College Ghana in 2022 and holds a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

His involvement in the tourism sector spans more than a decade. From 2010 to 2014, he served as Board Secretary to the Ghana Tourism Authority’s Board of Directors, before becoming Special Assistant to the late CEO, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, from 2014 to 2017. He was appointed Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs in 2018 and rose to the position of Deputy Director, Domestic Marketing in 2024.

Known for his Pan-African vision and commitment to national development, Mr. Kusi has played vital roles in several national tourism initiatives, helping to shape and promote Ghana’s tourism narrative locally and globally.

His honour by TOUGHA is a testament to a career built on service, strategic leadership, and an enduring passion for tourism development in Ghana.
