A tipper truck with registration number GN 258-11 run into one of the Elelctricity Company of Ghana poles located at Dawa. The incident happened in the morning of Thursday, 5th September 2024, making a number of customers to go off supply for a while.
The damaged pole is part of the electricity distributor’s new network it is constructing to support supply to Dawa, Ada and surrounding areas. The affected parts have however been isolated and all customers have their supply restored.
The pole, a tubular one got bent and the company is working on replacing it as soon as possible and as part of the ongoing construction works. The cost of replacement is estimated at GHC22,000.
The Regional Engineer of the ECG Tema Region, Ing. Michael Buabin indicated that “the issue is yet to be reported to the Police for further investigation and action”. He added that “we are currently unsure of what exactly happened for the driver to have gone off the road to cause such a damage. We would, however, want to send a general caution to drivers to always exercise safety on the roads and to be careful when driving”.
