Thomas Partey Faces Additional Rape Charges, Court Appearance Set for March

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, according to reports by The Telegraph, in a development that adds to the ongoing legal proceedings involving the 32-year-old.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised the new charges, which supplement the existing allegations Partey is contesting. The midfielder previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault during an earlier appearance before Southwark Crown Court in September last year.

The alleged offences are reported to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during Partey’s time as a first-team player at a north London Premier League club. He was formally charged shortly after leaving the club at the end of June following the expiration of his contract.

Partey is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March, in connection with the latest charges. He remains on bail and is due to stand trial on November 2.

Under the conditions of his bail, Partey is permitted to continue his professional football career. However, he is required to notify authorities at least 24 hours prior to any international travel and is prohibited from contacting the complainants.

Currently playing in Spain’s La Liga with Villarreal after joining the club as a free agent, Partey remains part of the Ghana national team setup. Ghana are set to face England, Panama, and Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.

The legal process is ongoing, and the charges have yet to be tested in court.
