Senior lecturer of the Accra Technical University Dr. Ibrahim Zebeiru has added his voice to the social media #fixthecountry campaign.
He explained that the youth may be fed up because all influential bodies to put the government In check are sleeping.
” ..and everybody is saying they should fix it. Where is OccupyGhana? where is IEA? they are the loud making CSOs that we know in the country, where is Professor Martey? Where is Mensa Otabil? Where are they? Why are they quiet? Is the culture of silence echoed by our big brother Sam Jonah real? And I can tell you it is real. If you speak they will come after you,” he said.
He further explained that, in other to suppress the tension in the system, there is need for government to organize a national fora and call on major stakeholders to address these challenges because it is eminent that government is stack in its decision making processes and should consult people for help or prepare to face more pressure.
Dr. Zebeiru stressed that the arrogance of state machinery to suppress the people will fail” the arrogance in the bank of Ghana and all those guys who are sitting thinking that they can do anything to Ghanaians, we have power for four years so let’s do anything nobody can tell us anything, we will tell them something oneday”, he said.
Dr. Zebeiru expressed surprise about government’s attempt to use the Ghana Police Service to stop the #FixtheCountry Demonstration slated for Sunday May 9 because of Covid-19 to be warned in their quest to silence the masses, because it is disastrous, he said. “They shouldn’t hide behind Covid-19 in an attempt to pursue their hidden agenda”. “They should tell the truth and stop hiding behind Covid-19.” he stressed .
