In a historic and emotional transition, world-renowned pastor and author Bishop T.D. Jakes has officially handed over the leadership of The Potter’s House Church in Dallas, USA, to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Touré Roberts.
The announcement, made before a global congregation, marks a carefully planned evolution of the megachurch’s leadership. Bishop Jakes, revered for decades of transformative ministry and cultural impact, emphasized that this transition had been years in the making — a “purposeful evolution” designed to meet the growing needs of today’s dynamic society.
“Today we shared with the world our long-held plans of purposeful evolution for The Potter’s House and our global church family. Preparing for this announcement over the past several years has allowed us… to carefully balance the needs of our community worldwide and the pace at which we performed each step of our plan.”
He praised Sarah and Touré for stepping up, noting how their move from Los Angeles to Dallas was part of a greater vision for the future of the ministry.
