The People of Central Region are not cheap – Fred Forson replies AG

Fred Forson, the spokesperson for the Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold, has voiced his concerns over an alleged remark by Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame, claiming that people from the Central Region are “cheap.”

Fred Forson finds it troubling that Mr. Dame, educated and raised in the Central Region, would make such a statement about its people.

Speaking on Ahotor FM‘s morning show with host Citizen Kofi Owusu, Fred Forson emphasized that someone with Mr. Dame’s background should not make such comments, if they are indeed true.

The controversy arose from a court revelation on June 13, 2024, during the trial of businessman Richard Jakpa and another individual accused of causing financial loss to the state through the purchase of faulty ambulances for the Health Ministry.

Mr. Jakpa disclosed that during their interactions, Mr. Dame had referred to people from the Central Region as “cheap.”

Jakpa further revealed that Mr. Dame mentioned his intention to have Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson jailed, citing pressure from the President and the Finance Minister.

According to Jakpa, Mr. Dame was directed to ensure Dr. Forson’s parliamentary seat was declared vacant by the first week of May.

This timing was alleged to meet the six-month requirement necessary to organize a by-election after a seat is declared vacant.

Fred Forson described these alleged comments as unfortunate and deeply concerning, particularly coming from someone with roots in the Central Region.
