The NPP Has Been on a Scandal Hunt for Months” – GIFEC CEO Dr. Tanko Rashid Computer Defends NDC Amid Dollar Gift Uproar

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Dr. Tanko Rashid Computer, has hit back at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what he describes as a deliberate attempt to smear the image of the John Mahama’s government and deflect attention from pressing national issues.

Reacting to the recent controversy surrounding Acting GolBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi’s alleged “dollar gift” to evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Agradaa, Dr. Tanko dismissed the uproar as political theatrics aimed at manufacturing scandals where there are none.

“In fact, from Monday through Tuesday, we’ve been saying this is much ado about nothing. It’s just noise. The NPP, with their style of politics, have been on a scandal hunt since day one of this government,” Dr. Tanko stated.

He asserted that the opposition’s frustration stems from their inability to uncover any wrongdoing within the Mahama administration despite several months of probing.

“From the first month to the fifth, they’ve come up empty. Not a single scandal. They’re worried. They’re asking themselves, ‘What is the secret behind this clean governance?’ It’s been four months of effective administration, and they’re struggling to believe it,” he said.

Dr. Tanko compared the current administration’s record to that of the Akufo-Addo government’s early days in 2017, which he described as a turbulent period riddled with controversy.

“Back then, from January to February alone, we were inundated with scandals – the BOST scandal, contaminated fuel issues – they were distributing them like toffees, left and right. From the onset, they were damaging the country’s image.”

He praised President John Mahama’s leadership, crediting him with restoring dignity and accessibility to the Presidency.

“President Mahama is on top of his job. The Presidency is working. We’ve brought sanity back into governance. We’ve restored high respect to the office. Those days they used to claim the Presidency was a security zone. If we hadn’t voted them out, I’m sure by now they would’ve banned taxis and trotros from using the roads near Jubilee House.”
“Today, the seat of government feels like a traditional chief’s palace — open, welcoming, and accessible. John Mahama has brought governance to the people’s doorstep. That’s what real leadership looks like,” he emphasized.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Dr. Tanko Rashid Computer urged Ghanaians to remain focused on the government’s progress rather than be distracted by what he described as “diversionary tactics.”
