John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to retool the nation’s security agencies if elected, ensuring they have the resources needed to operate effectively.
Addressing supporters in Adjei Kwadwo, Tema West constituency, during his two-day tour of the Greater Accra Region, John Mahama criticized the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for neglecting the security sector.
He contrasted this with the NDC’s record, claiming that under his leadership, the NDC made the most significant investments in retooling the security agencies.
“The NPP has failed to govern effectively, and our security agencies are a clear example. When the NDC was in power, we conducted the largest retooling of our security forces. Since then, the NPP has done little to support them. I promise that under the next NDC government, we will retool the security agencies to ensure they can protect us properly,” Mr. Mahama stated.
While expressing confidence in the NDC’s chances of winning the 2024 elections, Mahama urged his supporters not to be complacent, emphasizing the need for continued hard work to secure victory.
