THE NATION’S HEALTH TARGET HAS BEEN SUSTAINED BY THE PROGRESS OF WORK ON AGENDA 111 – AKUFO-ADDO

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says Ghana’s vision of becoming the preferred destination for medical care in West Africa by 2030 is on course.


He said the country is working successfully towards that goal with substantial investments to strengthen health system performance, infrastructural growth, and access to quality healthcare.
President Akufo-Addo on disclosing this when he, launched the Agenda 111 project.


The project will cover the design, procurement, construction, equipping, and commissioning of 101 District Hospitals, 6 Regional Hospitals in newly created regions, as well as 1 Regional Hospital in the Western Region, 2 Psychiatric Hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale, and a redeveloped Accra Psychiatric Hospital.


The project is to ensure that Ghanaians nationwide have access to quality healthcare services and with the National Health Insurance Scheme, boost the provision of healthcare infrastructure and financial accessibility to healthcare.


Doctors, nurses, and other health personnel will have accommodation in the hospitals to be constructed.

According to the Agenda 111 detailed document, the facilities that will be enjoyed by Ghanaians include 4 state-of-the-art surgical theatres for maternity, obstetrics, and gynecology, a full complement of male, female, pediatric, and isolation wards, among others.


President Nana Akufo-Addo said the nation’s health target has been buoyed by the progress of work on the ‘Agenda 111’ initiative.

The initiative is to provide 100-bed standard district hospitals with accommodation for doctors and nurses, the construction of new regional hospitals for the six newly created regions, as well as two new psychiatric hospitals.
