The Congress was illegal according to the GFA Statutes – Micky Charles.
Bankroller and President of Techiman City Football Club, Charles Ntim, affectionately called “Micky Charles” has labelled the recently held 2023 Ghana Football Association Elections as an act of illegality.
In an exclusive interview with Ahotor Agorokensie, Mickey Charles emphasized that the whole process was illegal according to the status and even defiling a court injunction is a very serious concern.
“Well the process was illegal. What happened in Tamale was an illegality because per our statutes, if the GFA Executive Council wanted a mandate, they should have asked congress to give them a mandate when they had the Ordinary Congress on the 10th of July in Kumasi. As far as the statute is concerned, there is nothing like an Elective Congress so what happened in Tamale was null and void.”
Incumbent GFA President Kurt Okraku run unopposed and ended up getting 117 of 120 votes to secure another four year term as GFA President. Members of the GFA Executive Council were also elected.
Alhaji Karim Grusah’s hearing of the court injunction is to be heard on Thursday, October 12.
