The Member of Parliament for TAIN, Hon. Adama Suleimana, speaking on Ahotor FM’s Simpieso has said the 2022 budget is silent on the need of his constituents.
He believes anytime the New Patriotic Party’s government gives a huge name to any of its projects, the Ghanaians have to wail because all they know is jargon.
He has said, the name given to the 2022 budget is very “deceptive and hollow” for it is full of taxes.
He further stated that the NPP government is doing “economic gymnastics” because they promised to use One billion Ghana cedis to create One million jobs for the youth.
” Now if you divide One billion by One million, you will get One thousand cedis; how do you start a business with One thousand cedis?” he added.
He has said he expects the government to increase the budget of the sectors such as, the education, agriculture and trade sectors they claim are on their hearts.
” So we expect the budget on trade to go higher, agriculture and education… Office of the government machinery budget has gone up from 2.70billion to 3.13billion, education budget is reducing by almost 1billion; from Five billion, six hundred and thirty- one million, six, three, seven point eight five, give…” he added.
He also said the government communication budget is moving from 4billion of 12 million , meanwhile most of the agencies under the information ministry are going down in debt. He believes the government thinks when they put the things in book, the people will not read it in detail.
He added that the only challenge the NDC minority in Parliament is facing is the taxes the current government wants to levy on the Ghanaians.
He has said, the budget talks about COVID-19 raging the economic life of the people but they are still taxing these people who’s economic life has been affected by COVID-19.
” It doesn’t make sense,” he added.
