The 8th edition of the Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF)is set to take place from 18 to 24, 2023, in Accra, Ghana.
The festival yarns the theme “Tech in Film: Exploring the Role of Technology in Filmmaking in Africa.
The festival will showcase a various collection of films from around the world that exemplify the innovative use of technology in filmmaking including workshops and panel discussions on the latest trends in film technology.
BSIFF will host various other events, including a music concert, a film museum, and an esports tournament.
The conclusion of the festival will be an awards gala to honor the best the films showcased.
On August 23, 2023, festival director Philippa Bentuma Arthur emphasized BSIFF’s commitment to celebrating the progress of African cinema and promoting an industry that continuously pushes creative boundaries through the chosen theme.
The CEO of the National Film Authority and Founder of BSIFF, Ms. Juliet Asante emphasized in her speech that embracing technology is crucial for filmmakers to stay in tune with the future.
The Ambassador of the European Union to Ghana, H.E. Irchad Razaaly, attended the event and emphasized the EU’s continued support for the creative industries and the filmmaking sector in Ghana, to create more opportunities for the youth.
