Tema West Assembly Leads Project Inspection Tour with MP, MCE, and Media in Attendance

The Tema West Municipal Assembly embarked on a thorough inspection tour of ongoing and planned development projects yesterday, accompanied by Member of Parliament Hon. James Enu, Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, assembly members, and a contingent of media representatives. The initiative underscored the Assembly’s robust 2026 development agenda, aimed at addressing critical infrastructure gaps in the municipality. Residents and stakeholders turned out in numbers, witnessing firsthand the commitment to transformative projects that promise to uplift communities across Batsona, Lashibi, Sakumono, Klagon, and Adjei-Kojo.

Key highlights of the tour included plans to drill two boreholes each in Batsona and Lashibi, alongside one in Sakumono, to tackle persistent water scarcity issues. Other priorities featured the completion of the police post in Adjei-Kojo, the finishing touches on a fully furnished clinic in Klagon, and the construction of a modern two-storey, 12-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Lashibi JHS. These initiatives reflect a strategic push to enhance water access, security, healthcare, and education—core pillars of local development in the Greater Accra region.

Speaking to the media during the tour, Hon. James Enu emphasized the visit’s dual purpose: monitoring projects earmarked for 2026 while reviving abandoned ones from the previous administration. It’s the new government’s vision to complete every inherited project and build meaningfully on them, he stated, expressing delight over the borehole projects. The MP highlighted how these water interventions would finally resolve longstanding shortages plaguing Lashibi, Batsona, Sakumono, and nearby areas, bringing relief to thousands of residents who have endured unreliable supply for years.

The MCE, Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh drew attention to a pressing challenge at a site in Adjei-Kojo earmarked for a clinic, chip compound, and three-bedroom staff accommodation. He revealed that the allocated land has faced encroachment, complicating progress. The Assembly is actively engaging the community to clear the site and make necessary adjustments, with optimism for a sod-cutting ceremony as early as Friday. We urge residents to support this process, the MCE appealed, reaffirming that all outlined projects for the year will be delivered on schedule.

Assembly members present praised the collaborative spirit, noting how the tour fosters transparency and accountability. Media coverage is expected to amplify public awareness, encouraging community buy-in for these initiatives. As Tema West positions itself for growth, such on-site inspections signal a proactive governance model, bridging the gap between policy and implementation.

This tour sets a positive tone for 2026, with officials urging sustained resident cooperation to overcome hurdles like land disputes. Successful execution could serve as a blueprint for other municipalities in Ghana, demonstrating how political unity and media engagement drive development.
