The Communications Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency of the Western Region has accused the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Hon. Gilbert Asmah of hiring macho men to attack the Presiding Member, Hon. Benjamin Kessie for criticizing him.
On Wednesday, May 23, 2018 some macho men perceived to be hired by the MCE, stormed and attacked the Constituency Secretary who is also the Presiding Member of the Assembly for consistently criticizing the MCE.
According to the Secretary, the MCE is working against the MP to make him a one term MP.
He said, “Instead of the MCE working to consolidate the gains of the party in the area, he was covertly knocking off the NPP’s political fortunes in Tarkwa-Nsuaem”.
GhanaWeb sighted a 48-minute video that confirmed that the Constituency Secretary was attacked by some macho men of the area.
In the video, he asked the macho men what his sins were but they told him that they were there to do their job.
But in a press statement issued by the party’s Communication Directorate and jointly signed by Mr. Ebenezer Anane Atuahene, the Communications Director and the Deputy Communications Director, Edem Gomashie Wisdom accused the MCE of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Hon Gilbert Asmah of hiring some macho men to the Presiding Member and the Women’s Organizer for criticizing the MCE.
According to them, on May 23, the Tarkwa Magistrate court was to finally rule on the matter filed by the MP, Hon George Mireku Duker against one NPP member, Kofi Animako who circulated doctored information about the MP sometime ago after the MP asked the court to drop the case.
“In the premises of the court were made up of the young man in question, his family and aides of the MCE of Tarkwa-Nsuaem who have printed a card with the inscription Duker Must Go boldly on their chests”, they explained.
They added, “The Presiding Member of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Assembly who doubles as the NPP Constituency Secretary who administrated Tarkwa NPP to garner the highest votes for NPP in Western Region in 2016 was equally made aware of the issue and hence decided to stay in his office”.
“Hours later, the group made up of Aides of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem MCE whose assignment from their boss is to constantly attack the hardworking MP and champion a one-time mantra against him arrived at the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly in a government vehicle”, they emphasized.
MCE Reacts
Reacting to the allegations, the MCE, Gilbert Asmah, denied all assertions insisting he had no problem with the MP for the area and constituency party leadership.
According to him, the problem of some of the executives was that he was having a cordial relationship with the former MP for the area, Gifty Kusi.
“Because Duker contested the former MP in the party’s parliamentary primaries and lost, they see anyone perceived to be a supporter of Hon Kusi as their enemy “, he added.

In the premises of the court were made up of the young man in question, his family and aides of the MCE of Tarkwa-Nsuaem who have printed a card with the inscription Duker Must Go boldly on their chests.
These raised eyebrows at the court premises and some party folks were informed by the infantile activities underway.
The Presiding Member of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Assembly who doubles as the NPP Constituency Secretary who administrated Tarkwa NPP to garner the highest votes for NPP in Western Region in 2016 was equally made aware of the issue and hence decided to stay in his office.
Hours later, the group made up of Aides of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem MCE whose assignment from their boss is to constantly attack the hardworking MP & champion a one-time mantra against him arrived at the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly in a government vehicle.
The Presiding Member who noticed the unusual crowd made up of machomen at the reception of the Assembly humbly asked what their mission was. This humble question incured the wrath of one machoman (who is in the video attached in a green attire) who directly told Hon. Benjamin Kessie, The PM that “…..You this man, I’ve heard of you paaa, you better stop your ways, I’m here because of you, I was brought here because of you…..” there and there, the young man who peddled falsehood against MP with MP dropping the court against called Kofi Nimako came from behind and said “…..You Kesse, you will be finished today, we will destroy your life today….”.
This caused some workers at the Assembly to come in and stop the banter and retreat their Presiding Member to safety.
Within a few minutes, a troop of party faithfuls made up of Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators & Constituency Executives who heard of the alleged attack on their PM & Secretary rushed to the Premises of the Assembly to match up MCE’s rented boys who have threatened the lives of the Presiding Member & the Constituency Executives.
As the team of NPP Party Faithfuls were matching up to the office of the MCE, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Divisional Police Command arrived and quickly asked the Party Faithfuls to humbly wait outside and not enter the premises of the MCE because the party faithfuls were full of rage and don’t know what will happen when they get there.
Then, the Presiding Member & The Constituency Women’s Organiser, Hon. Kuchana were being verbally attacked at the office gate of the MCE loaded with machomen which caused them to dare the MCE to come out (in the Video Attached).
The Police Command who were very infuriated seeing machomen & non-Assembly workers at MCE’s office part of the mayhem asked them to leave with immediate effect, but since the only exit is the entrance where the angry Party Footsoldiers were gathered and can harm them when coming out, the Police Command decided to lock them up in the facility (which the MCE & his team later sent a fake information out that, Party Footsoldiers have locked them up).
Within this period, the Western Regional 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP, Nana Kwesi cape upon hearing the news and went and asked the MCE the mission of Kofi Nimako, his family, the machomen and the Aides to the MCE at the premises of the Assembly where it was reported that, the MCE said “…..They came to thank him for the court case being closed….”.
The question is does that mean it was the MCE who tasked the young man to circulate those doctored information against the MP?
Party Faithfuls are now asking, has it gotten to the stage where the MCE have hired people to kill Hon. Kessie?
Has it gotten to the stage where Party Executives who brought the party to power are going to be killed by their own MCE?
Is it a crime to have a hardworking MP who garnered the highest votes ever for NPP in this region in 2016 to have all the party grassroots on his side?
Is it because the MP is enjoying massive grassroots support because of his good works?
We are humbly calling on the Regional & National NPP Executives to intervene before the MCE soils the integrity of the government with vigilantism, murder of Executives, Corruption and a toll on our political fortunes in the constituency.
