Tariq Lamptey Doubtful for Black Stars’ UK Tournament
Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has suffered another injury setback, putting his participation in the upcoming four-nation tournament in London in doubt.
The 24-year-old was absent from Brighton’s squad for their 3-2 win over Liverpool due to a knee injury.
Lamptey’s latest setback adds to his persistent injury woes, which have plagued his career. He had just returned from a foot problem and was forced off with a knee injury in Brighton’s match against Wolves.
Lamptey’s contract with Brighton expires this summer, and there is little indication of renewal talks. He has fallen down the pecking order under Roberto De Zerbi, behind Joel Veltman.
Lamptey was previously linked with a move to Ajax, and Everton are reportedly monitoring his situation.
The Black Stars are set to face Trinidad & Tobago, Nigeria, and Jamaica in the UK tournament.
Lamptey’s fitness remains a major concern for Otto Addo’s technical team, and his absence would be a significant blow to the team.
