The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party supporters to unite behind the government of President John Dramani Mahama to ensure the success of the administration and protect the image of the party.
He urged members of the party to remain committed and supportive of the government’s agenda to help deliver on its promises to Ghanaians.
According to Mr Asiedu Nketiah, the fortunes of the Mahama government are tied to the collective image of the NDC and its supporters, stressing that any failure of the administration would not be blamed on the President alone but on the entire party.
Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” in the East Gonja Constituency on Thursday, May 14, the NDC Chairman urged party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of the party and contribute positively toward the government’s agenda.
He cautioned supporters against engaging in acts that could undermine the work of the administration, insisting that discipline, unity and cooperation are crucial to the success of the government over the next three years.
“Our party members who supported the party to power, we have three years to the end of the tenure of the Mahama government. We need to support the government to succeed,” he said.
“If Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of us; Mahama will not only take the fall, but all of us. We need to support the government’s agenda with all our strength for it to succeed for the betterment of the people,” he added.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah further encouraged party members to constantly motivate one another to uphold the image of the NDC and work collectively toward fulfilling the expectations of Ghanaians.
