An Economist and a Lecturer at the University of Ghana business school (UGBS) Prof. Godfred Bokpin, has lambasted the govt for using the covid 19 and the Russia-Ukraine war as an excuse for its non-performance.
Prof. Bokpin, cited some countries that were hit far more than Ghana yet they are having a better economy.
Prof wondered why Ghana should cry over countries that were far hit by the covid, and yet did not take huge loans as this current govt.
“The very countries which are carrying the trauma are not crying as we are doing. We are wailing more than the carriers of the problem and that should not be” he said.
He disclosed that, the pre-covid environment wasn’t the best so govt should ‘leave’ the covid and the Russian -Ukraine war as the cause of the hardships in Ghana.
He cited the non-existent in-built mechanism against external shocks.
This puts the economy in a weak position to absorb any economic shocks.
