Stephen Appiah Laments On Lack Of Leadership In The Current Black Stars Squad
Former captain of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah has expressed that there is no leadership in the current Black Stars as compared to his time at the National Team .
Speaking at the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth , Sports and Culture , Ex Black Star Captain emphasize that one major problem he has identified in the current Black Stars is lack of leadership. He revealed that a leader in the national team is suppose to be bold and make some decisions which might not be favorable to some of the players.
He sighted that during his time in the Black Stars , he sometimes argued with some of the top players like Michael Essien on the pitch but still achieve the ultimate results at the end of the day.
Stephen Appiah who lead Ghana to their first-ever World Cup emphasized this strong leadership was a key element in the team’s successes their World Cup runs in 2006 and 2010.
Recent lackluster performances by the team have raised concerns among Ghanaian football fans about the players’ dedication and lack of leadership when representing Ghana.
