Sports Minister Kofi Adams meets Bronx Boxing Gym champions; promises support for Ghana boxing

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, met with the management and athletes of Bronx Boxing Gym, a renowned Ghanaian boxing institution, reinforcing the government’s commitment to uplifting boxing in Ghana.

 

Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Ashie Kotey, and management of Bronz Boxing Gym, officially introduced prominent boxers from the gym, including John “Expensive Boxer” Laryea (2X WBO African Featherweight Champion, ranked #15 globally), Sharif “OneTime” Quaye (WBO African Lightweight Champion, ranked #8 globally), and Selasie “Emperor” Gosh (WBO African Bantamweight Champion).

 

During the meeting, Bronx Boxing Gym’s CEO, Samuel Anim Addo, and Technical Director, Lawrence Carl Lokko, outlined plans to host international boxing events in Ghana. They appealed to the Minister to support these initiatives, encourage corporate sponsorship, and promote fan engagement similar to football support.

 

Adams assured the delegation of his dedication to their cause, emphasizing the importance of athlete welfare, psychological training, and continuous professional development between fights. He pledged to assist in mobilizing corporate partnerships and developing regional boxing gyms.

 

The meeting concluded positively, with mutual commitments to ongoing cooperation aimed at positioning Ghana as a prominent boxing hub globally.
