Speaker Refers Ministerial Nominees to Appointments Committee for Vetting.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has officially referred three ministerial nominees to the Appointments Committee for thorough vetting and subsequent recommendations.

The nominees, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, are Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, designated for the Finance Ministry, John Jinapor, nominated for the Energy Ministry, and Dominic Ayine, selected as Attorney General and Minister for Justice.

During the announcement, Speaker Bagbin addressed Parliament: “I have received, on behalf of the House, a message from the Office of the President, dated January 9, 2025. Honourable members, I will accordingly refer these nominees to the Appointments Committee for review and report back to the House. It is so referred.”

In reaction, the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, emphasized the importance of the vetting process, urging the nominees to prepare thoroughly for scrutiny. “We caution the nominees to come fully prepared. This will not be business as usual, and we expect them to be ready when they appear before the Appointments Committee,” he stated.
