The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has launched a scholarship scheme to support the professional development of parliamentarians and staff of the Parliamentary Service. The partnership with NiBS University will provide opportunities for MPs and staff to pursue higher education, including doctoral programs.
Speaking at the event, Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of equipping MPs and staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. He noted that Ghana’s Parliament has made significant contributions internationally, and this initiative will further enhance their performance.
The scholarship scheme will offer over $200,000 in support to successful applicants, enabling them to pursue doctoral-level studies at NiBS University. Prof. Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, Founder of NiBS University, highlighted that the partnership aims to provide practical solutions and skills to enhance the work of MPs and staff.
This initiative demonstrates Speaker Bagbin’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s Parliament and promoting good governance. By investing in the development of MPs and staff, the scholarship scheme is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s legislative processes.
