
The battle against the alarming rise in Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) cases in Ghana’s Upper West Region has intensified as Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, alongside the Upper West Parliamentary Caucus, steps in with crucial support to help combat the deadly disease.
In a bid to bolster the region’s healthcare response, Speaker Bagbin has donated essential logistics and medical supplies valued at over GHC 300,000 to aid in the management and treatment of meningitis cases.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, he commended medical personnel in the region for their relentless efforts in tackling the outbreak, despite limited resources and challenging working conditions.
Bagbin emphasized the urgent need for sustained government intervention and improved healthcare infrastructure to prevent future outbreaks.
He also called for greater public awareness, urging residents to seek early medical attention if they experience symptoms of meningitis, such as severe headaches, fever, neck stiffness, and confusion.
