Sophia Akuffo Is Too Emotional for Sensitive Public Roles – Abraham Koomson + {AUDIO} 👇

TEMA, Ghana, 20th June: The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has described former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo as overly emotional and temperamental, arguing that such traits are unsuitable for individuals occupying sensitive public offices.

According to Mr. Koomson, the manner in which Sophia Akuffo resigned from her position as a member of the Council of State reflects what he described as her emotional and sentimental character.

He further criticized her public opposition to the removal process involving former Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, stating that her actions were inappropriate for someone serving on the Council of State.

His comments come after the Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, disclosed on June 15, 2026, that Sophia Akuffo had submitted her resignation letter from the Council of State in September 2025 and had not attended any of the body’s meetings since then.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu programme on Saturday, June 20, Mr. Koomson maintained that Sophia Akuffo’s conduct demonstrates a tendency to act based on emotion rather than objectivity.

“She is very emotional and sentimental. People with such characteristics should not be placed in highly sensitive positions where impartiality and restraint are required,” he stated.

Mr. Koomson’s remarks add to the ongoing public debate surrounding the resignation of Sophia Akuffo and her stance on recent developments within Ghana’s judiciary.
