US-based Ghanaian gospel preacher and singer Sonnie Badu has advised people preparing for marriage to carefully consider purpose and vision before choosing a life partner.
In a video shared on Instagram, the award-winning minister emphasized the importance of direction and clarity, especially for women. According to him, marrying a man who lacks vision and clear goals can slow down a woman’s progress in life.
He revealed that during a recent marriage counselling session, he asked a groom whether he had discovered his purpose and vision. “If you don’t have a purpose and a vision, don’t marry,” he stated, explaining that in many marriages, a wife often finds herself fulfilling her dreams within her husband’s purpose.
Sonnie Badu further noted that women whose ambitions do not align with their partner’s direction should reconsider such relationships. He stressed that love and emotional attachment alone are not enough to sustain a successful marriage.
While maintaining his belief that leadership in marriage rests with the man, he added that a woman plays a powerful role as a supporter and driving force behind her partner’s vision and overall success.
