TEMA, Ghana, 28 February: The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a solid and reassuring 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA), but stressed that the government must urgently fast-track the work of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.
According to Mr. Koomson, while the President’s address was comprehensive and forward-looking, the fight against corruption must move beyond rhetoric to decisive action.
He argued that individuals he described as having contributed to the country’s recent economic challenges are still “walking freely” and distracting the government’s efforts at recovery.
He therefore called on authorities to ensure that ORAL functions swiftly and effectively to restore public confidence.
President Mahama, on Friday, 27th February, delivered his second State of the Nation Address, outlining the government’s performance across key sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, and the economy.
In his address, the President reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to a purposeful and strategic foreign policy designed to advance national development, protect sovereignty, and promote Ghana’s values on the global stage.
He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intensified efforts to ensure that Ghana’s international engagements directly support economic growth and safeguard national interests.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu show on Saturday, 28th February, Mr. Koomson praised the President for clearly articulating his administration’s achievements and direction.
However, he emphasized that the success of the government’s broader economic reset agenda will depend heavily on the effective implementation of ORAL.
He maintained that swift accountability measures would not only deter corruption but also strengthen investor confidence and reinforce public trust in the government’s reform programme.
