Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South constituency in the Northern region, criticized President Nana Addo’s State of the Nation Address, alleging that it served as a campaign launch for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Iddrisu stated that President Nana Addo failed to address crucial issues such as the fight against corruption and bad governance. He also criticized the President for not apologizing to Ghanaians despite previously praising his vice president, only for them to allegedly cause harm to the economy.
Addressing the media after the President’s speech, the former minority leader suggested that the President’s address seemed more like a promotion for Vice President Bawumia’s potential succession. He emphasized that it was important to recognize that the end of “dumsor” (power outages) did not occur under President Nana Addo’s tenure, but rather during the previous administration led by John Dramani Mahama.
Iddrisu contended that the NDC administration had taken steps to resolve the power crisis before leaving office, and the current administration is benefiting from those efforts, particularly in terms of increased power generation capacity. He urged for a factual representation of the situation rather than attributing credit falsely.
