Abdul-Razak Yakubu, an International Development, Governance, and Political Consultant, has shared his thoughts on the petition to remove the current Chief Justice of Ghana.
According to him, the judiciary’s positioning sometimes makes them vulnerable to public criticism, which needs to be addressed.
Yakubu believes the current judiciary is perceived as biased towards the former NPP administration led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He cites the cases of Hon. James Quayson, Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency, and Hon. Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, as examples.
Speaking on Hot Issues on Pan African Television, Yakubu emphasizes the need for the judiciary to maintain professionalism to prevent the frequent changes in Chief Justices and other judicial officials that occur with government changes.
He encourages the judiciary to work impartially and transparently to regain public trust.
