American boxing sensation Ash-Shakur Nafi Shahid Stevenson has shocked the boxing world by announcing his retirement from the sports of noble self defense.
The Newark fighter holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight title and previously reigned as the WBO featherweight champion and a unified super-featherweight champion.
The 26-year-old unbeaten boxer, who won silver at the 2016 Olympics in Rio as an amateur wrote on X (Twitter) on Monday (January 29)
“I’ll be in the gym forever, perfecting my craft and helping the next generation become great and chase [their] dreams, but I ain’t [f***King] this weak boxing game”
His statement has really come as a shock to boxing loving fans.
Stevenson (21-0, 10K.Os) has to apologize to his fans and spectators in his last fight in November when he took on De Los Santos on points to win the vacant WBC lightweight belt for poor performance even after winning the bout, and now he claims that is his last bout.
Stevenson’s tweet followed a post in which he reacted to reports that Emanuel Navarrete will fight Denys Berinchyk for the WBO lightweight title.
Shakur retires as three class division champion.
